Settlers Resist Inspectors
Avi Moshe 02/12/2009 13:03Civil Administration Inspectors, who attempted this morning to deliver stop-construction orders in the territories, were met with strong opposition on the part of the settlers. Dozens of people sat in the road, blocking the entrances to their settlements. In Beit Arye, the head of the regional council was arrested after clashing with police. A security guard in the settlement was lightly injured.

Netanyahu Calms Settlers
Reuven Stein 01/12/2009 21:14The Prime Minister said today during a speech at a finance convention that the fate of the settlements in Judea and Samaria will be determined only within the framework of a final agreement with the Palestinians, and not before that. "My decision to temporarily freeze construction in the settlements will not repeat itself", he promised.

Avi Moshe 01/12/2009 10:10Inspectors from the Civil Administration were out on the warpath yesterday, confiscating construction materials and vehicles, and delivering freeze orders to contractors working in the territories. The mayor of Ariel, Ron Nachman, said, "This is a well planned military operation, aimed at purging the country of crime families – no other than the heads of the Yehuda and Shomron settlements."
