  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

The President praised the Prime Minister: today, during a speech before 800 lawyers of the State Attorney's Office in Eilat, the President said: "I look at the Prime Minister and I see that he makes very serious efforts. He has made some courageous decisions. It may be that a person like me would want to see more, however I also know that what he has done until now is far more than we thought he would do", Peres said.

The annual assembly was attended by Justice Minister Professor Yaakov Neeman, Attorney General Menachem Mazuz and State Attorney Moshe Lador. During his speech at the event, Peres also touched upon political issues, such as the peace talks with the Palestinians, and said: "The gaps between Israel and the Palestinians have become smaller".

Peres also referred to the responsibilities of the Attorney General and said that the opinion of the Attorney General should always overpower the Prime Minister's in issues concerning law and justice, otherwise the state would collapse.
