David Shmueli 14/12/2009 14:22At the "Globes" Israel Business Conference forum on education today in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said, "We are in trouble" with regard to the state of education in Israel. He called for the chareidim to learn more science and technology subjects. Education Minister Gidon Sa'ar called for an immediate strengthening of the education system.

No Hesder - No Reserve Duty
Eitan Fried 14/12/2009 10:46After Barak announced yesterday on the cancellation of the army arrangement with the Har Bracha Hesder yeshiva, in lieu of the failure of Rosh Yeshiva Eliezer Melamed to appear for a "hearing" scheduled by the Minister of Defence, a letter signed by 100 graduates of Har Bracha was sent to the IDF Chief of General Staff. The letter stated: "If the Hesder is cancelled, reserve duty will also be cancelled. The IDF is showing us the way out, so we will leave on our own accord."

Illegal Meetings
Eitan Fried 13/12/2009 18:11The Attorney General will issue and indictment against the Arab Knesset member Said Naffaa, from the "Balad" party, for meeting with the Deputy Director General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Syria, and for visiting and enemy country after a request to do so was denied. The Knesset member's parliamentary immunity will be temporarily suspended. Naffaa: "This decision is very strange. I will fight it with all the tools I possess."

Map Causes Strife
David Shmueli 13/12/2009 12:45A fierce debate was expected to take place today during the government meeting, regarding the National Priorities map, between the Labor ministers and Netanyahu. The point of conflict is the priority status granted to communities located outside of the large settlement blocs. Shas is considering opposing the new map, because "the periphery settlements and the communities of the Gush Katif evacuaees were not included"
