  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. Coal Power Plant? Not Now

A direct request from the Director General of the Prime Minister's Office led to the postponement of a discussion to decide whether to construct a coal power plant.

The Committee for National Infrastructure announced this morning that it is postponing the discussion about constructing a coal power plant – the meeting was scheduled to take place on December 21, and no alternate date has been set.

During the discussion, the committee was supposed to make a final decision whether or not to construct a coal power plant. The Ministry of Infrastructure is interested in conducting the meeting and discussion as soon as possible, but agreed to the request to postpone the discussion.

Last week, heavy pressure was placed on the committee to postpone the meeting, which was due to take place just 3 days after the Climate Summit in Copenhagen. Gilad Erdan, Minister of Environmental Protection, was involved in the request for the postponement.

Officials in the Ministry of Infrastructure clarified that the decision to postpone the discussion was made after a direct request was made by the Director General of the Prime Minister's office, Ayal Gabbai.
