  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

“No” to Crime: “No” to Selling Alcohol

The Knesset approved a preliminary bill prohibiting the sale of liquor in the proximity of places of entertainment. "Fighting crime."

Reuven Stein 09/12/2009 18:52
Cheers! A bill has been proposed that establishes that liquor must not be sold in the proximity of places of entertainment, or in gas stations or adjacent to them. It was approved today (Wednesday) in its preliminary reading in the Knesset plenum.

The bill was initiated by MKs David Rotem and Robert Ilatov (Yisrael Beiteinu). The prohibition will apply, if the law passes, starting at 22:00 at night until 04:00 in the morning.

According to Knesset members who initiated the law, its purpose is to hinder the purchase of liquor, as another way to deal with rising crime in places of entertainment, as well as part of the uncompromising war on driving under the influence of alcohol.

"Law and enforcement is part of the war against crime and violence and everything must be done to eradicate the phenomenon of delinquency, and to aggravate the punishment," said Rotem and Ilatov.

A similar initiative is a proposal by MK Uri Orbach. Orbach proposes to ban the sale of liquor at gas stations and businesses in their vicinity. This proposal was also approved today. MK Uri Orbach warned the Knesset that "the gas stations have turned into service stations for people to ‘lit themselves up.’”
