The Answer to the Construction Freeze in the Territories: A New Structure in Samaria
Elon Moreh residents placed a new trailer this morning, exactly where the order prohibiting the continued work was handed out.
Yesterday (Wednesday) a special patrol unit of Border Police forces used extensive violence in an attempt to distribute orders in Elon Moreh. Finally, after violent battles against hundreds of civilians and after a march toward Joseph's Tomb, led by Rabbi Eliakim Levanon, rav of the yishuv, and Chairman of Samaria Settlers Beni Katzover – a march that was stopped by police violence - the order prohibiting the construction was placed on an area slated for a children’s playground.
The Elon Moreh secretariat decided yesterday to take action: "After we saw the order was placed on a green area that was supposed to be a playground, and we had internalized the persecution policy, which did not even take into consideration the order itself that should not apply to public needs, we will build there a structure on the same place where families will live. If the law enforcement system may stop construction of a playground in opposition to the actual order, we will really build there. Everywhere the freeze orders will be placed will serve as the foundations of a new building," people said in the yishuv.
Chairman of Samaria Settlers Beni Katzover, himself a resident of Elon Moreh, said: "In the face of destructive intent, we shall build. Against the threats we will increase construction and the settlements of Judea and Samaria."
Yossi Dagan, from the Samaria Settlers Committee, also welcomed the new building, and said to Etrog that "the public rejects with contempt the racist decrees of Netanyahu and the huge fraud perpetrated on the voters. Netanyahu was elected on a platform opposing a Palestinian state and an explicit commitment to building momentum in Judea and Samaria. The nation is sick with contempt at the fraudulent and racist act and it will not pass.”
