  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

Slight Defrost: 84 Buildings Approved for Construction in the West Bank

Last night (Wednesday), before the PM met with the heads of the Yesha Council, the government coordinator announced the construction of 84 buildings in Judea and Samaria. At this time the anticipated meeting is taking place in Tel Aviv.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is meeting this morning (Thursday) with the heads of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, in his office in Tel Aviv. All the Local Council heads are expected to attend, in contrast to a meeting with the Defense Minister last night, which was boycotted by the main settlement leaders.

Before the meeting, National Union chairman MK Yaakov Katz declared an uncompromising struggle, as he removed his gloves: “This is Netanyahu’s racist and anti-Semitic decree against Jews alone,” he declared.

Last night, less than 24 hours before the planned meeting of the settlers with Netanyahu, the government coordinator of activities in the territories, Maj. Gen. Eitan Dungot, announced the construction of 84 buildings in the West Bank for housing, according to a list approved by the political echelon.

The directive in question will allow the building of structures that have a building permit, and have not yet reached the stage of laying the foundations.

Meanwhile, after bothering to publicize in all the media outlets that they will refuse to meet with Prime Minister, the settler leaders are meeting with the Prime Minister. The meeting is taking place in the Kiryah Thursday morning in Tel Aviv.
Following the decision to freeze construction the Prime Minister met Wednesday with Likud activists, telling them that the freeze on construction is limited.

"There is a defined period after which we will build again," Netanyahu made it clear. "They asked me to freeze not only in Judea and Samaria but also in Jerusalem. Obviously, this was not done. Two thousand five hundred units are not included in the construction freeze on housing units and an additional 500 we attached. The freeze does not apply to public buildings and definitely not to Jerusalem.”
