Noam Shalit at Conclusion of Meeting with Hagai Hadas: "I am not at ease."
The meeting has ended between the head of the Israeli negotiating team, Hagai Hadas, with the parents of Gilad Shalit. As he left the conference room, Noam Shalit refused to speak with reporters, claiming, "At the moment I can't say anything, and I have nothing to add." However, Shalit did say that he is not at ease. In Cairo, preparations are being made for more talks.
This afternoon in Tel Aviv, the meeting at the Kirya ended between the Israeli negotiator Hagai Hadas and the parents of Gilad Shalit, the captured Israeli soldier.
At the end of the meeting, Noam Shalit refused to comment on the content of the meeting, and said, "I've participated in far more interesting meetings in my life." However, Shalit also said, "We cannot speak at the moment, and I have nothing to add. I am not at ease."
Earlier today, the Arab news site associated with the Hamas, "al-Arabiya", reported that significant progress had been made in the negotiations over the Gilad Shalit deal. According to senior Hamas officials who were quoted in the report, the deal will be complete by the middle of next week, since the Muslim holiday "Eid al Adha" begins on Friday and ends in the middle of next week.
In addition, talks between the two sides, through the German mediator, are moving forward: the heads of Hamas are expected to meet in Cairo today to discuss the final details of the deal. According to Palestinian reports, the Hamas delegation in Cairo will be headed by Mahmoud al-Zahar.
