Swine Flu: Number of Victims Doubled in Schools
The H1N1 virus strikes students and the numbers of absent pupils doubled during the first two months of the semester
The Association for Public Health reports that the number of absent students in schools throughout the country has doubled during the first two months of the first semester, due to the H1N1 virus.
According to the report, between the beginning of September and the middle of October, 7% of students have been absent, compared to just 4% in the same period last year.
Rami Cohen, the association's Vice President for Planning and Development, clarified that parents should not send sick children to school for fear of contaminating other students. "We receive reports from school nurses about large numbers of absent students. Many parents refrain from sending their children to school, knowing that other students have the flu".
