Litzman Ordered Kashash's Beeper to Be Reconnected
The Deputy Health Minister ordered that the beeper of the chairman of Hatzolah to be reconnected, after it had been disconnected over the chairman's objection against chillul Shabbos
MDA had disconnected the chairman's beeper to the communication center due to his objection against the chillul Shabbos that was caused during the evacuation of Israeli pensioners from the site of a traffic accident in Jordan last week.
Dozens of MDA and Hatzolah volunteers received orders on their beepers on Shabbos to attend to Israeli pensioners who were involved in a car crash in Jordan. They were to evacuate the Israeli tourists to hospitals in Israel.
Only after traveling for half an hour did they receive the notice that the accident in question occurred on Friday afternoon, and that most passengers were only lightly wounded, the majority of whom had already received medical treatment.
Dozens of volunteers waited approximately four hours at the border, witnessing unnecessary chillul Shabbos by MDA paramedics and volunteers.
The rabbis of Hatzolah Israel held a special meeting after the grave event to decide the future of their cooperation with MDA. Leading figures in MDA, who have a history of hostility against frum Hatzolah volunteers, decided to 'punish' the chairman of the organization and disconnected him from the MDA communication center.
Deputy Health Minster Rabbi Yaakov Litzman intervened and ordered the beeper of Kashash to be reconnected to the communication center.
The ongoing dispute between MDA and Haztolah is currently being dealt with in earnest within the Health Ministry.
