    In Jerusalem, no consensus has been reached regarding how to deal with the anti-Israeli Goldstone Report, which is threatening political ties as it drags the country into the international arena. The cabinet must decide whether to set up an individual commission to conduct an inquiry of the events that occurred during the "Cast Lead" operation, or whether to wait to see if the U.N. submits the report to the International Criminal Court in The Hague – in which case Israel will be forced to defend before the entire world. The Justice Ministry recommends launching a local, independent inquiry, while the Defense Ministry opposes such a move, out of fear that senior army officials will be charged with war crimes after the findings of the inquiry are made public.
