Israel: 2 Billion Budget Cut
Avi Moshe 29/09/2009 12:00Two months after the 2009-2010 budget was approved by the government, the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance plan to present during the cabinet meeting on Thursday a new proposal for a widespread cut of 2 billion shekels from the government ministrial budget. The cut is part of an effort to locate funds to cover additional Defense Ministry expenses, and in preparation for the possibility of a major outbreak of Mexican flu.

Abu Mazen is Miffed
David Shmueli 24/09/2009 11:45In an interview that was published this morning by the London newspaper "Al Hayyat", Abu Mazen called the Netanyahu government "a real problem", referring to the lack of common ground between the two leaders to renew peace negotiations. Abu Mazen emphasized that he cannot agree to a partial settlement construction freeze, since the concept of a settlement freeze implies a complete halt of construction.

With regard to the settlements, Netanyahu said that the issue shoud be raised at the end of the negotiation process, and not before it. Terrorist Shot Near Beitar
David Shmueli 22/09/2009 11:15Near Beitar Illit, an Israeli Arab suspected of attempting to run down IDF soldiers at a security checkpoint was shot and killed. The Arab refused to stop his vehicle for inspection, and began to drive at high speed towards the soldiers on duty. The soldiers shot at the driver, killing him. The attack is being investigated by Central Command.
