When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. Hezbollah: We Have an Interest in Keeping UN Resolution 1701

Hezbollah claims they have an interest in keeping UN Resolution 1701 which ended the Second Lebanon War because it "preserves our achievement."

"We have an interest in keeping Resolution 1701 because it was a decision that preserved the achievements of the resistance and the strength of Lebanon," said Deputy Secretary General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Kassem, in an interview this morning (Sunday) in a Lebanese newspaper.

According to Kassem, the decision which ended the Second Lebanon War has never been violated by Hezbollah because of their self-interest. "We are not responsible for who shoots rockets from southern Lebanon," Nasrallah's deputy said.

Kassem was asked how Hezbollah helps the Palestinians, and he answered that the entire Hezbollah entity actually helps the Palestinian struggle against Israel. "Everything that happens in Lebanon, whether we’re speaking about the liberation of Lebanese land or standing up to Israeli aggression, will eventually help the Palestinians.”
