  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

The Admor of Satmar: The Opposition of the Chareidi MK's to the Building Freeze is a Provocation to the International Community

The holy Admor of Satmar, shlita, supports the President of the United States, Barak Obama, who is pressuring the leaders of Israel to freeze all construction in the territories. The Admor, shlita, attacked the chareidi Knesset members who are opposed to the freeze, claiming that they are "provoking the nations", and calling their actions "hediotim koftzim b'rosh".

Yochanan Weisberg and Yosef Feffer 09/12/2009 22:10

Everyone came to give thanks and praise to Hashem for his great kindness and mercy.

The Satmar chassidim congregated before the table of the holy Admor of Satmar, shlita, to mark the 65th anniversary of the day that the holy Admor, the Divrei Yoel of Satmar, ztz"l, was saved. The event was held in large compound, in the huge Steiner's hall. Satmar rabbis, as well as other Admorim and rabbis, participated in the event, alongside public figures and the general public.

A large fleet of buses brought people from all the Satmar neighborhoods to the hall, and at the hour that the event was scheduled to begin, the hall was completely packed.

The chairman of the event, Rabbi David Pearl, a maggid shiur from Kiryat Yoel, gave the opening speech of the evening. Rabbi Pearl spoke about the great miracle, and that in the merit of the elderly tzaddik, nearly 8000 students are learning Torah today in Williamsburg alone.

At 8:30, the holy Admor of Satmar, shlita, arrived at the hall in all his glory. The huge crowd that congregated outside the doors of the hall, caused the police on the scene to block the entrance to the hall, in order to prevent any more people from entering. Fifteen minutes later, the seats occupied by the Talmud Torah children were vacated, in order to permit the chassidim left outside to come into the hall.

The next speech was made by the tzaddik, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Teitlebaum, shlita, Avad Satmar Williamsburg, and son of the holy Admor of Satmar, shlita.

The gaon Rabbi Yaakov Weiss, shlita, a distinguished student of the holy Admor "Ba'al Habarech Moshe" of Satmar, ztz"l, who is renowned as a wonderful darshan, described in great detail the work of Satmar all over the globe. Today there are 27,000 Satmar students – boys and girls – around the world.

The gaon Rabbi Shustel, shlita, Rosh Yeshivat Lakewood, was the speaker of honor for the evening. He describe the great power the Admor of Satmar, "Ba'al Hanes", ztz"l, possessed, and told stories he had heard from his grandfather, Maran the gaon Rabbi Aharon Kotler, ztz"l, about the work of the "Ba'al Hanes", ztz"l, to revive Torah Judaism after the Holocaust.
Everyone in the hall fell completely silent when the holy Admor of Satmar, shlita, began to speak divrei Torah, and words about the significance of the day. The Admor spoke for nearly an hour, about the Divrei Yoel's teachings and customs.

From the depths of his heart, the Admor of Satmar, shlita, called out against "the behavior of the chareidi parties in Israel". He said, "Recently, the world leaders have been working to stop the vicious cycle of murder and bloodshed in Eretz Yisrael, and one of the things they have requested is a halt of all construction in the occupied territories, since that only provokes our enemies. And there is certainly no need to provoke them. It pains my heart that the religious and chareidi parties are opposed to the building freeze, and awaken the hatred and anger of the murderers towards the Jewish nation. Instead of remaining silent – they provoke the nations, and it is clear that the yetzer of Zionism is bursting from their throats, and they are as hediotim koftzim b'rosh."

The Admor of Satmar, shlita, added that such behavior is not only forbidden because it provokes the nations, but that in general it is not the correct thing to do, since there is plenty of building to be done inside Eretz Yisrael, without building in the occupied territories.

The Admor of Satmar continued by expressing his support for the American President, Barak Obama, who has asked the leader of Israel to stop provoking the nations.

At the end of his speech, the Admor, shlita, reiterated the takanos that were set two years earlier, during the event on the 21st of Kislev, and praised the community for the savings of the past two years, which totaled $30 million dollars.

At the end of his speech, the holy Admor, shlita, he honored Rabbi Mordechai Eliezer Hirsch, shlita, by asking him to speak about the institutions. The names of all the generous patrons, who had donated large sums of money for the benefit of the institutions, were announced.

In addition, the names of people who had donated that very evening over $100,000 dollars were announced. The total amount of donations that evening, from the donations that were greater than $100,000 dollars, was $3,400,000 dollars. And that was not including the smaller donations.

After birkas hamazon and sheva brachos for a number of chassonim, the crowd began to dance joyfully in honor of the day, and everyone went home feeling inspired.
