  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

Pupa: $1,000 for the Mosdos from Each Chassid

The Pupa Chassidic Court in America has asked each of the chassidim to contribute $1,000 for the Mosdos of the Chassidut.

Yosef Feffer, New York 07/12/2009 14:25
In a particularly unusual step, in an attempt to stabilize the economic situation of the Chassidim’s Mosdos, the Grand Rabbi of Pupa shlita spoke from the bimah in the center of the Beis Midrash and asked for the first time that each of the public contribute at least the sum of $1,000.

Mosdos Pupa, as all the world's large institutions, are in a difficult economic situation, particularly after the government cuts in allowances for institutions of Torah, which is another blow to the difficult economic situation in general. In light of this the Chassidim plan to make a prestigious dinner, in which all the Chassidim will contribute funds for the existence of the Mosdos.

The Rebbe spoke briefly, explaining that the obligation to help the management of the institutions stems both from the honor of the Torah, and from the self-support of each of the Chassidim who is actually supporting himself with this. He quoted the words of the Ohr HaChaim that if you see there is no flour – no parnassah – the reason for this is that there is no Torah - no respect for the Torah.

The Rebbe went on to say that although the big dinner will take place in only in a few weeks, the management of the institutions are in a situation that they can’t pay salaries to the employees.

The Rebbe continued, saying that although, Baruch Hashem, despite the difficult situation, the institutions still continue to flourish and bear blessed fruit, all this is only in the zechus of our ancestors, said the Rebbe. He said that if "We donate our share," so then the blessing of “the G-d of your ancestors will add to you a thousand times and bless you as He spoke to you” ... “and all the blessings of the Torah will be fulfilled with us."

Here the Rebbe turned to the kehillah and asked every single one, whoever has his ability to give "a thousand gold pieces," should give, so they could continue the holy work, although over the years they never asked for an amount, but this time in light of the situation the Rebbe asked from everyone one thousand dollars.

Needless to say, the moving words of the Rebbe entered the hearts of the Chassidim after he spoke to them before the Torah reading, which is something that does not happen every day in Papa. In light of the Rebbe's words the askanim began fundraising a thousand dollars from each member of the Kehillah of Pupa Chassidim.
