Unanimously: The members of the government confirmed this morning (Sunday) the appointment of Attorney Yehuda Weinstein as the next Attorney General, replacing Meni Mazuz who is leaving office at the end of January 2010.

The vote took place this morning after the Justice Minister, Prof. Yaakov Neeman, presented the various candidates last week. Neeman noted that his preferred candidate for the office is Attorney Weinstein.

The Ministers had a few days to consider their position, and they voted this morning on the Justice Minister’s proposal. Weinstein was elected unanimously.

The new Attorney General will replace outgoing Attorney General Meni Mazuz, as mentioned, and will serve for six years.
