Lieberman: "Islamic elements are abusing the democratic tools given to them by European countries"
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman met with Danish Minister of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs Birthe Rønn Hornbech in Copenhagen today. The two ministers discussed immigration issues and other relevant topics.
Lieberman said during the meeting that: "Radical Islamic elements are abusing the democratic tools given to them by European countries in order to incite, escalate and worsen the relations within those countries and between those countries and other countries, and increase and encourage anti-Semitic incidents".
Lieberman also met with chairwoman of the Danish Parliament's Foreign Policy Committee, Gitte Lillelund Bech. The two discussed the relations between the countries and global policy issues, as well as an upcoming visit of the Danish parliamentary committee to Israel.
The minister also laid a wreath at the memorial site for Danish Jews sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. He mentioned the fact that many Danish residents risked their lives in order to save Jews who were meant to be sent to the Nazis. He furthermore stated that Denmark will always have an important place in history and in the heart of the Jewish people.
Lieberman added, "Today we are once against facing those who want and threaten to destroy the Jews, not only those living in Israel. The Iranian regime funds the terrorist activity in the world in general and against Jews in particular".
The minister stated that the State of Israel is responsible for all Jewish communities in the world, and all the Jewish communities in the world are responsible for the State of Israel. He said: "The battle against the Iranian threat is the biggest challenge the democratic world must to face today."
