  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. United Nations against Israel: Overwhelming Majority Adopts Goldstone Report

114 countries in the United Nations General Assembly voted in favor of the Goldstone report, 44 abstained and 18 countries voted against, among them Israel and the United States. The United Nations General Assembly is calling on Israel and the Palestinians to investigate war crime allegations leveled in a UN report on the Gaza war.

The 192-member body adopted the resolution on Thursday by a vote of 114-18, with others absent or abstaining.

The resolution calls on the Security Council to act if either side fails to launch credible investigations within three months.

Israel's ambassador to the UN Gabriela Shalev slammed the General Assembly and said: "Instead of fighting terror, the General Assembly again chooses to be detached from reality".

Shalev furthermore said that the report reflects the obsessive persecution the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva persistently conducts against Israel.

The Palestinian delegate expressed his gratitude to all countries who are members in the assembly for investigating the events of Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.

The Palestinian representative his speech attacked the State of Israel, arguing that it has been violating the human rights of Palestinians for over 40 years.

United States Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, boycotted the resolution.
