  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

The Impressive Visit of Maran the Gerrer Rebbe shlit’a in the US

Etrog’s American correspondent joined the Gerrer Rebbe shlit’a on his holy journey and brings us a daily accounting of the emotionally laden visit.

Yosef Feffer 27/10/2009 11:37
To the joy of the chassidim in New York, Maran HaAdmor of Gur shlit’a arrived to spend some time close to his chassidim and to bestow upon them the radiance of his holiness. The Rebbe shlit’a is staying in the home of R. Yaakov Enden, on 52nd street, where he will be for one week. However, he will receive visitors in a special room in the Mesivta Beis Yisrael of Gur.

The limited entourage that arrived together with the Rebbe merited a very rare and special treatment by the airport authorities. When they arrived, the Rebbe left the plane through a back door minutes after the plane landed and went directly out of the landing strip.

Shacharis took place in the morning at the home of the Rebbe’s host. The Rebbe then immediately went to the Mesivta. In honor of his visit high bleachers had been installed in the Beis Midrash, and everyone passed by the Rebbe to wish him “Shalom Aleichem.”

About 4:30 PM the Rebbe came once again to the Mesivta and began to receive people waiting to see him, until the time of Mincha. The Beis Midrash was bursting with Hisorerus during the Tefillah.

After Mincha the Rebbe continued to receive people until the time for Maariv, and immediately after Maariv he returned to his host’s home. The Etrog website will continue to cover the holy journey of the Rebbe shlit’a in New York which is expected to last a number of days.
