  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

Pshevorsk: Dozens of Chassidim Ate Shabbos Seudos with the Admor, shlita

In honor of the Shabbos "Aliya l'Torah" of the son of the Admor, shilta, a large congregation of chassidm was guests of the Admor for the Shabbos meals.

Yochanan Weisberg 26/10/2009 16:43

Dozens of Pshevorsk chassidim from all over Europe, as well as a large contingent from Antwerp, spent the past Shabbos with the holy Admor of Pshevorsk, shlita, in honor of his son's "aliyah l'Torah". The beis midrash was overflowing, and many of the chassidim prayed over the course of Shabbos in the "Zichron Moshe" hall.

On Friday night, all of the guests ate together in the beis midrash sanctuary. Chassidim crowded around the tables, and the beis midrash was completely full from end to end. Though the Admor, shlita, is not accustomed to eat with his chassidim, on this occasion tradition was broken, and the Admor, shlita ate every Shabbos seudah with his numerous guests. At the head of the main table sat the leader of the group, Maran the holy Admor of Pshevorsk, shlita, and at his side sat his brother-in-law - the holy Admor of Spinka Lakewood, shlita, another brother-in-law - the Admor of  Lantzhot from Beit Shemesh, his sons, and city rabbis, shlita.

On the morning of Shabbos Kodesh, after tefillah, almost all the Jewish residents of Antwerp, headed by rabbis and dayanim, came to wish the holy Admor of Pshevorsk, shlita, "Mazal Tov". The crowd then sat to eat a communal meal with the holy Admor, shlita.

On Motzei Shabbos, at approximately midnight, a Malve Malka seudah was held for many hours, as the congregation danced and sang with joy, in celebration of their Admor's simcha. A boys' choir, lead by the famous performer Rabbi Asher Alech, made the atmosphere especially elevating. The highlight of the festivities was when the Admor blessed the entire crowd, and distributed pieces of garlic  - "knoble" - to everyone present, as is his custom.

The Admor changed the original custom, and now distributes garlic on Sunday, since the act of distributing it on Motzei Shabbos at such a late hour caused bitul Torah for many chassidim. But on this special occasion, an exception was made, and the "knoble" custom took place on Motzei Shabbos.

At the end of the festivities, all of the chassidim returned to their homes and lodgings. On Monday morning, the Admor, shlita, and his group flew to the United States.
