  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

The Terrible Tragedy leads to a Memorial in the Form of a Beis Midrash

The terrible tragedy in Jerusalem led the father of the daughter killed in a fatal traffic accident to open a new Beis Midrash

Yochanan Weisberg 26/10/2009 20:12
A week ago all of Jerusalem’s residents, and especially the residents of Rehavia, were horrified to hear the bitter report of the death of a little girl, Shula Swerdlov, a’h, in a fatal traffic accident on last Monday.

Since the Beis Knesses used by the Chabad chassidim in Rehavia is too small to serve all the congregation, the father of the child, R. Yosef Swerdlov, decided to found a new minyan of Chabad in the neighborhood in memory of the pure child who had never tasted the taste of sin. The minyan will take place in a restaurant opposite the Beis Knesses.

One of the residents of the neighborhood commented that it’s true that many good things only happen after a tragedy, unfortunately, but they are certain that the place will grow and flourish and add to the honor of Heaven.

Already this week, on Motzaei Shabbos, activities for young people took place and the framework of Avos U’Banim learning began. Many Chabad chassidim who live in the area came for the tefillos and learning of fathers together with their children.
