  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, shlita, and the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Schwartz, shlita, on a Special Kashrut Tour

Cooperation between Badatz "Yisa Bracha" and the "Chomat Kashrut" network: kashrus rabbis went on a special kashrus tour.

Yochanan Weisberg 22/10/2009 12:47

Rabbis from the Beit Din "Kahal Yeraim" and the "Chomat Kashrut" network, headed by Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, shlita – head of the Badatz "Yisa Bracha", and by the gaon Rabbi Yisrael Schwartz, shlita – head of the "Chomat Kashrut" network, went on a special kashrut tour to learn about injections given to chickens.

The rabbis were first taken to the "hatching" facilities, to see the entire process of cooling and heating the eggs, until the stage where new chicks hatch. They received detailed explanations from the managers of the factory. For over an hour, the rabbis toured the grounds, questioning the workers and the managers, and clarifying in depth whether the chicks are given shots on the day they hatch, and if so, exactly which shots.

From there, the rabbis, shlita, proceeded to the "chicken coops", where the chicks are raised until they are large enough to undergo shechita. After the manager of the factory explained how the chicks are raised, the rabbis examined the shots that the chickens are given, and asked to see where on their bodies the chickens receive the shots – in order to make sure there is no danger of "nefila".

The tour ended at the facilities at Moshav Daniel near Modi'in and Latrun, where the rabbis spent several hours discussing the laws of shechita as they apply to chickens.
