A Sudanese citizen attempted to hijack an Egyptian airplane which was on its way from Istanbul, Turkey to Cairo, Egypt. The man demanded that the plane be flown to Jerusalem.
A few minutes after the plane had left Turkish aerial space, 26 year old Muchmad Chamad Nourian from Sudan approached the flight crew and, holding a plastic knife that was given to him by the stewardess before the meal, demanded that the plane be flown to Israel and land in Jerusalem.
"I want to liberate Jerusalem!" the man declared. The flight attendants immediately called for security, and the man was arrested within seconds.
The man is suspected of using a forged passport to ascend the plane. The flight continued as planned and landed safely in Cairo, where the man was taken into custody.
