  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. New Anti-Semitic Phenomenon in Antwerp: Mezuzahs are Being Ripped Down

Mezuzahs have been removed from many Jewish homes in Antwerp; police promises to increase security

Yochanan Weisberg 15/10/2009 19:11

Anti-Semitic incidents on the rise in Antwerp: mezuzahs are being ripped down from doorposts in the city. Many local Jewish residents woke up in the morning and discovered that their mezuzahs had been removed. They immediately turned to the police, who took the incident very seriously.

No suspects have, as of yet, been apprehended, however the police has promised to increase security in the Jewish neighborhoods during the nights.

It should be noted, that many Jews live scattered throughout the city, and many of them have Arab neighbors.

A Jewish local told 'Etrog' that the Jewish community in Antwerp does not generally feel threatened, and each anti-Semitic incident should be dealt with separately.
