European Union: A Compromise on Jerusalem Must be Reached

Ministers of the European Union concluded their meeting about Sweden's proposal to recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian people, by calling on both Israel and the Palestinians to discuss the issue of Jerusalem and reach a compromise.
"If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found through negotiations to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of two states," the EU ministers said in a statement released after their meeting.
