A bill was passed by the Knesset this evening allowing the establishment of a biometric database in Israel, in second and third readings. A majority of 40 Knesset members voted in favor of the bill, and 11 were opposed.
The bill states that every Israeli citizen will need to provide fingerprints from two fingers, and a facial photograph. The information about Israel's citizens will then be stored in a central database, and can be used for identification purposes.
