In the first 3 weeks since Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz decided to crack down on drivers who drive in lanes reserved for public transportation vehicles, 10,000 tickets have been issued to drivers caught violating that injunction.
The Transportation Ministry reported that more than 30% of the tickets were issued in Tel Aviv, predominantly on Derech Namir, Shderot Yerushalayim, and on Ben Yehuda, Levi Eshkol, Allenby, and Jabotinsky Streets, between Bnei Brak, Ramat Gan, and Petach Tikvah. Another 25% of the tickets were issued in the Sharon and the Shefela.
