Knesset member Eitan Cabel commented on the issue of insubordination in the IDF, during a special hearing of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Sub-Committee. Cabel said that political discussions can not take place within the framework of the army.
"The issue of politicization within the military system has been more blatant recently. It is very important that the IDF stays out of such disputes. There is no room for political discussion or debates within the military system, and certainly not among soldiers. The only authority in the Israel Defense Forces is the authority of the commanding officer, and not of a rabbi or even a secular civilian leader."
