MK Aryeh Bibi, who was previously Commissioner of the Israel Prison Services, welcomed the High Court ruling preventing a private prison in Israel.
"We absolutely must not privatize the prison system in Israel. Some things must remain with the State and one important one is the right to use force, and this right must not be given to a private party. A private prison is a business in every respect that wishes to maximize profits, and that may override the interests of the prisoners and their human rights," he said.
