Foreign Ministry: The Approval of the Anti-Semetic Candidate in the Ukraine sends a Message to Anti-Semites and Holocaust Deniers
The Israeli Foreign Ministry condemned yesterday the approval of Serhiy Ratushniak's self-nomination as a candidate for the 2010 Ukranian presidential election. Ratushniak is the current Mayor of Uzhhorod.
Yossi Levy, director of the Foreign Ministry's media department, said, "We know the Mayor of Ratushniak quiet well, though not in a favorable light. He has made outrageous anti-Semetic remarks in the past, and his candidacy for such a senior position in the Ukraine – President of the country - does not bide well with Ukraine's claim to be fighting anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial."
