Eitan: The Postponement is Proof that Public Opinion has an Effect

Minister Michael Eitan welcomed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s decision this evening (Monday) to postpone the Knesset vote on the bill to establish a biometric database this week. "I hope," said Eitan, "that the postponement will lead to a reconsideration of the controversial biometric database. This is proof that public opinion can have an influence, and I hope that this postponement will enable the citizens of Israel to enjoy smart identity cards and passports without the risks of establishing a biometric database.
