Mayor of Jerusalem Supports Intel Shabbos Desecration

Avi Moshe 15/11/2009 21:04

During the dedication ceremony for the new branch of  "Intel" at Har Hachotzvim Industrial Park in Jerusalem today, the city's mayor, Nir Barkat, said that he "backs and supports the activities of the Intel in Jerusalem." The mayor also said that he is in favor of the dual status-quo.
"Intel has been in Jerusalem for 24 years, following the same work plan, and no changes have been made," said Barkat.
The Minister of National Infrastructure, Binyamin Ben Eliezer, also expressed his support of the Intel Shabbos desecration. That is despite the fact that he is the minister in charge of enforcing the laws regulating work hours and rest on Shabbos. Ben Eliezer said, "Rather than conducting a violent demonstration, it would have been more productive for the protestors to find a way to end the argument, or even to help the workers on the job at the factory."
