China has only reported 66,000 cases of Mexican Flu, and a total of 43 deaths – much less than the numbers released by the United States. China has administered Mexican flu vaccinations to 13 million people thus far, and just over 1000 experienced severe reactions to the vaccine. Two people died within a day of receiving the shot, and the exact cause of their deaths is being investigated.
The spokeswoman for the Chinese Minister of Health, Vivian Tan, said, "So far from the sheer numbers vaccinated, there's a very small number of mild and ever smaller number of serious reactions. We still believe it is generally safe and effective."
