A few hundred of mega-swindler Bernie Madoff's personal possessions were sold by auction on Saturday in New York City, including jewelry, clothing, and items as obscure as the street sign from Madoff's beach house, a life preserver from one of his boats, and 3 duck decoys.
Buyers bidding for the items paid prices far above the actual value of their purchases, as they viewed Madoff's possessions as collectors' items. A total of $900,000 dollars was raked in. The life preserver alone sold for $7,500. (CNN)
