The Zaidi rebels in Yemen said Sunday they had shot down a fighter jet in the north, which the military said had crashed due to technical problems.
"Our anti-aircraft batteries shot down a military plane which carried out bombings in the city of Razeh, near the border with Saudi Arabia," Abdessalam Mohammad, a spokesman for the Shiite rebels, told AFP. But a military source in Sanaa said that the jet had crashed near Razeh "due to a technical problem", and that it's mission was to bomb the rebel areas.
