IDF and Finance Ministry to Decide Whether to Raise Retirement Age for Career Soldiers

The age of retirement from the Israeli Army as Career Soldiers is likely to rise. A final decision on the matter will be made by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Yuval Steinitz, and the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi, who met this afternoon in the Finance Ministry offices in Tel Aviv. During the meeting, the two discussed a number of matters, including improving the economic efficiency of the army, and plans for raising the age of retirement for Career Soldiers. The two decided to hold another meeting in the near future.
