Dimona: Leader of "Black Hebrews" Suing for Citizenship

Ben-Ami Ben-Yisrael, the 70 year old leader of the community of 2500 "Black Hebrews", petitioned the Supreme Court on Monday to force the Interior Ministry to grant him citizenship. Ben-Yisrael claims that a 2 year old agreement to grant all members of his community citizenship has been ignored by the ministry.
The "Black Hebrews" arrived in Israel as a group in the late 1960's, and were given permanent residency status in 2003.
