Fires Broke Out in 3 Locations in Carmel Reserve

Three different sections of the natural forest on the Carmel were on fire a noon today. Fire fighters worked intensively to extinguish the flames, which were moving steadily towards a residential area of the mountain. An apartment building on Rechov Feigen was ignited by the blaze an hour later, but all the residents of the building were safely evacuated.
Haifa police are investigating the two possible causes of the fire: a contractor doing welding work may have unknowingly ignited nearby brush with sparks given off by his tools, or it is also possible that the fire was a case of arson.
