The Minister of Defense, Ehud Barak, has authorized for tens of thousands of Lulavim from Gaza to be imported to Israel, in order to prevent merchants from causing a shortage of lulavim for sale, and a sharp increase in prices.
Last week, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaakov Mergi, asked the Minister of Defense, Ehud Barak, to allow the lulavim to be brought to Israel in time for Sukkot.
