Alert: Outbreak of Rabies in the North
The Ministries of Agriculture and Health have issued a joint warning regarding a possible outbreak of rabies among dogs in northern Israel. Since the beginning of 2009, 32 cases of rabies have been documented – 21 of the infected animals were dogs.
The government says that there has been a sharp increase in recent days in the number of confirmed cases of rabies, and most of the sick animals are in northern Israel, near the Syrian and Lebonese borders.
