Obama Scraps Government Health Care Plan
The AP news agency reports that in response to Republican pressure and a lack of public support, the Obama administration has tentatively agreed to abandon the plan for government health care insurance as part of the President's vision for a new national health care system.
President Obama has traveled across the US promoting his 1000 page health care plan, and had hoped to have it approved by Congress before the August recess.
Much of the public opposition to the plan is rooted in suspicion over the possible ramifications of giving the federal government such widespread control over health care.
