Rescue efforts continue in rain and wind battered Taiwan, in the wake of Typhoon Morakot. After 3 meters of rain fell on the island a week ago, rescue teams are still searching for villagers whose homes were swept away by flood waters, or buried under rivers of mud.
CNN reports that over 31,000 people have been evacuated from the hardest hit villages, and the official death toll is 118, as many as 200 more villagers may be buried under five stories of mud.
