Syria: No Negotiations without Turkish Mediators

The Syrian ambassador to Turkey stated that his country is willing to renew peace talks with Israel, but only if a Turkish mediator is present. This is in response to a report that the Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, Danny Ayalon, said that Israel wants to conduct direct negotiations with the Syrians. Israel is not interested in involving the Turks in the talks, as their intervention did not prove to be beneficial in the past.
