Khaled Mashal, the Hamas leader based in Damscus, said that despite the continuous efforts of intermediaries to achieve the release of Gilad Shalit, there has not been any significant progress made.
Mashal said in an interview to the "Mifratz" newspaper, that the reason for the stagnation in negotiations is Prime Minister Netanyahu's refusal to meet Hamas demands, which include the release of numerous prisoners being held in Israel.
