Hebrew U. Receives $150,000 from Homeless Woman
A homeless Holocaust survivor, who died two years ago in New York City at age 90, bequeathed $150 thousand dollars to Hebrew University in her will, CNN reports.Hebrew U. learned the circumstances of the donation last week.
The money was half the amount the woman had in a New York bank account, the existence of which came as a complete surprise to an accountant who had befriended and assisted her in recent years.
The Jewish woman's identity has remained a secret, as she did not want her name to be remembered as one of a homeless person. Her will specified that the money should be spent on medical research and scholarships for researchers.
