Shuvu, the education network that maintains schools for children who are new to religion and Torah study, was on the brink of closing 6 of its schools in Israel. The network is in the midst of a worldwide campaign to raise necessary funds to keep the schools open for the 1,366 students they educate.
Matzav.com reported that the Shuvu secretary in New York was pleasantly surprised this week to receive a $10 dollar check from the United States Treasury. After closer inspection, she realized that the check had been sent by Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons in Washington DC, in the name of a man who has been incarcerated for over 20 years – Jonathan Pollard.
