"As we draw close to finalizing – and passing – real health insurance reform, the defenders of the status qou…are growing fiercer in their opposition," said President Obama in his weekly radio and internet address, Reuters reports. If Obama's healthcare plan is implemented, 46 million uninsured Americans will receive healthcare coverage, insurance practices will be regulated more stringently, and general healthcare costs are expected to drop. The cost of the reform to American taxpayers: $1 trillion dollars. The Republicans in Congress oppose the plan, while the Democrats offer tentative support.
