The spokesman for the Philippines Army, Colonel Jonathan Ponce, reported that according to their news sources, at least 12 people have died in the powerful floodwaters created by heavy Monsoon rainstorms in the southern Philippines. Approximately 400 thousand people have become refugees, after evacuating homes in the path of the floods.
"We're praying for the rains to stop and for the water level to subside so these people can go back to their homes," Reuters news agence quotes Ponce as saying. The Philippines government is providing food and shelter for the flood refugees.
