01/08/2009 23:03
A man wearing a backpack containing two batteries and wires tried to walk through and airport check point and was arrested by airport authorities. The Central Terminal was evacuated for several hours, and all take-offs were delayed. The New York City bomb squad verified that the "bomb" was not real.
The man has been arrested previously and appeared to be intoxicated. He will be charged with placing a false bomb in a transportation facility, and could face up to seven years in prison if convicted.
