The Chairman of the Finance committee, member of Keneset, Harav Moshe Gafni thinks that the conflict between the Bank of Israel and the Ministry of Finance regarding supervision over the salaries of the Bank of Israel does not differ between the figures in the subject of wage management and does not deviate from the agreements that were shaped in the past two years. "I recognize the importance of Bank of Israel and the special standing of the different respective bodies, but the administrative issue, among them the regulation of wages, needs to be under the jurisdiction of the Finance Ministry without exception.
According to what he is saying, the Finance Committee will not authorize giving self-autonomy to the Bank of Israel regarding the matter of wages. "We need to separate between the autonomy of the central bank and the issue of wage management. This is the job of the Finance committee, and it does not differentiate with the different bodies spoken about", he added.
